A staked unicorn can't be sold or moved until you unstake it, and there's no early exit. Rent can be claimed any time. When a term ends the unicorn keeps earning at the same share until you unstake.
Trading opens the moment unicorn #404 is mined, by whoever mines it. 25% of every mint and the 5% resale royalty buy $CRED back and burn it.
Burning opens with unicorn #404. A unicorn from the current epoch returns 200 $CRED; older ones return less, halving with every epoch.
There is no mint button. Your browser searches for a number that, hashed with your address, a recent block and the work of the last unicorn, comes out below the target. Find one and you can mint the next unicorn at the current price.
Every unicorn is chained to the one before it: when anyone mints, every search in progress starts over. One unicorn per block.
The target aims for one unicorn every 10 seconds. It retargets every 8 mints, gets harder while mints come fast (streaks), and halves every 5 idle minutes.

While nothing is staked, the stakers' share goes to the buyback too. Resales pay a 5% royalty, enforced on OpenSea, and it all goes to the buyback.
1,000,000 $CRED exist at launch: 950,000 locked in the Uniswap pool forever, 50,000 with the team. After that, $CRED is only created by burning a unicorn and only destroyed by the buyback.
Trading opens with unicorn #404. The fee starts at 50% and falls to 2% over ten minutes, so sniping the open doesn't pay.
7 days at 1×, 14 days at 2×, 30 days at 4×. Every mint's 65% is split by weight among the unicorns staked at that moment. Staked unicorns can't move; there is no early exit.
